Mr. Gyanu Dulal was a 20-year-old college student when he was forced to flee Bhutan in 1991. He spent the next 18 years living and working as a teacher in a refugee camp in Nepal. In 2008, Mr. Dulal was resettled to Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife and two children. He now works as a Community Resource Specialist at the Department of Workforce Services, Refugee Services Office. He is an active member of the Senior and Aging Council at the mayor’s office, and the Refugee Civic Engagement Office. He was recently recognized with the State Refugee Community Leader Award, and he is most proud of establishing a non-profit charitable organization in his community.
