MEDIA ADVISORY: Congress Holds Hearing on Refugee Program TODAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 27, 2020

WASHINGTON—Today the House Judiciary Committee’s Immigration and Citizenship Subcommittee will hold its first hearing on the state of the U.S. refugee program in more than two-and-a-half years.

Lawmakers will hear about the benefits of the refugee resettlement program and the current Administration’s attempts to dismantle the program.

The current Administration’s actions have placed discriminatory bans on immigration, endangered asylum seekers and sought to dismantle the popular refugee resettlement program through reduced admissions caps, allowing states and localities to block refugee resettlement and other actions.
